017 | "Entrepreneur Platform for Women" (Rhonesha at Her Agenda)
Today’s guest on the “Phil with Forbes 30” podcast is Rhonesha Byng– Founder of Her Agenda
Forbes List: USA
Year: 2017
Category: Media
Unlike many of the people I interview on this podcast, Rhonesha Byng is unique in her entrepreneurial journey because she didn’t raise venture capital money.
Through real bootstrapping, Rhonesha developed into a successful entrepreneur, the CEO of Her Agenda, a digital media platform for millennial women. The site provides access to content and community that gives women information and inspiration to help them get started, or to move to the next level of their career.
She won an Emmy award while she was a field producer with NBC-New York and received an award by the New York Association of Black Journalists.
She was also named one of 50 Founders to watch from ESSENCE magazine and was named One of the People to Know by BET.
Rhonesha has a passion for journalism and is concerned that the craft of journalism is dying. She works passionately to make sure the reporting and interviews are accurate and professional.
Rhonesha also shares:
Her journey.
Her failures.
How she built social capital.
The importance of relationships and how through ingenuity she developed them.
Negotiation skills.
Career advice including:
Get experience and watch others in the industry you want to be in.
Learn from your mistakes.
Build a reputation and a circle of advisors before going out and doing your own thing.
Rhonesha’s story puts her in a position to be a role model for young women, as well as to others who take a different route to starting a business.
Her Agenda Insiders (paid virtual community) and crowdfunding campaign offers a unique opportunity to try the Inside community for one-month without getting into a subscription. Learn more at: https://ifundwomen.com/projects/her-agenda
